SYZ Asset Management appoints Guido Bolliger as Chief Investment Architect

SYZ Asset Management, the institutional management arm of the SYZ Group, has appointed Guido Bolliger, Ph.D. to the newly-created role of Chief Investment Architect across the OYSTER fund range.

As Chief Investment Architect, Bolliger will be instrumental in designing innovative investment strategies for the firm. He will also spearhead SYZ Asset Management’s continued environmental, social and governance (ESG) evolution. In addition, Bolliger will chair the SYZ Asset Management scientific advisory board and be responsible for heightening the academic rigour behind the firm’s active investment strategies.

Bolliger joined SYZ Asset Management in Geneva more than four years ago as co-Head of the Quantitative Solutions team. Prior to this, Bolliger spent eight years at Olympia Capital Management in Paris, where he was head of quantitative analysis and risk management, as well as CIO. He has more than 15 years of experience in the field of quantitative analysis and portfolio management.

In his new transversal role, Bolliger will also use his extensive experience in the quantitative solutions space to enhance what portfolio managers are already doing and implement new quantitative and data driven inputs. Bolliger, who will report to SYZ Asset Management CEO William Nott, will represent the investment teams to the executive committee. He will transition his leadership of the Quantitative Team to his co-Portfolio Manager, Benoît Vaucher Ph.D., as the team is built out over the coming months.

Nott comments: “Recognising the power of data to potentially help active, high conviction managers perform even better, we are pleased to appoint Guido to the newly-created role of Chief Investment Architect. Since joining SYZ Asset Management four years ago, Guido has been instrumental in shaping the direction of our investment capabilities and will be pivotal in the continued evolution of our strategies as he brings a quantamental approach to our investment teams.”

Furthermore, SYZ Asset Management has named portfolio manager and Chief Economist Adrien Pichoud as its new Head of the Multi-Asset team, effective 1 July 2019. After nearly two decades at the firm, Fabrizio Quirighetti will depart later in the year to pursue personal interests. He will remain with the firm for the next few months to ensure continuity and to help maintain the high level of client service for which SYZ Asset Management is renowned. Pichoud, who has demonstrated strong investment expertise and worked alongside Quirighetti for over a decade at the firm, will focus on the continued development of SYZ Asset Management’s multi-asset capabilities.

Nott continues: “Fabrizio has been an accomplished member of our team and his expertise and insights have played a valuable role in the development of our multi-asset team and he will continue to provide the exceptional commitment and professionalism our clients have come to expect over the coming months.”
