Cédric Vuignier joins SYZ Asset Management as Head of Manager Research & Alternative Investments; Bertrand Dord joins as Senior Analyst

SYZ Asset Management, the institutional asset management division of the SYZ Group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Cédric Vuignier as Head of Manager Research & Alternative Investments, and Bertrand Dord, as senior analyst. Cédric Vuignier will take up his position on 1 June 2016, replacing Michaël Malquarti, who is taking his career in a new direction. A joint handover period until the end of June will enable a smooth transition between the two managers.

Based in Geneva, Cédric Vuignier has over 14 years of experience in alternative investments research and selection, of which 12 years were with HSBC (2000-2012) in New York and Geneva.

At HSBC, Cédric led an alternative portfolio management team for 8 years (2004-2012), where he was responsible for 400 mandates. During his leadership assets under management increased from USD 350m to USD 1.7bn, mainly due to excellent performance results. Prior to SYZ, Cédric was Head of Alternative Investments at AppleTree Asset Management. Cédric, 42, holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in finance from the University of Geneva HEC. Supported by a team of seven experienced specialists at SYZ Asset Management, Cedric Vuignier will be lead Portfolio Manager of the funds of funds managed to date by Michaël Malquarti.

In addition, the Manager Research & Alternative Investments Team has been strengthened with the arrival on 1 May of Bertrand Dord as Senior Analyst. Bertrand was previously a Senior Hedge Fund Analyst at Lyxor Asset Management for the past 7 years (2009-2016), focusing on event driven strategies, hedge fund analysis and selection and the launch of new funds. Prior to that, Bertrand held various positions at Société Générale in London and Paris including interest and foreign exchange hedging and CLOs (2006-2009). Bertrand majored in finance from HEC Paris and is a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).
