The move reflects the Group's continued commitment to alternative investments and its decision to focus on the areas where it believes it can deliver the greatest value to clients and generate the strongest long-term growth.
Syz Capital will focus exclusively on private equity through two complementary strategies: direct investments in European small and mid-market B2B businesses, and its primary private equity programme, which provides investors with access to a diversified portfolio of high-quality private equity opportunities through specialist managers.
Eric Syz, CEO of Syz Group, said:
"We are delighted to welcome David Weintraub to Syz Capital. His appointment marks an important step as we position the business into a dedicated private equity platform. Alternative investments remain a core conviction of Syz Group, and this sharper focus will allow us to build on our strengths, create greater value for clients and pursue attractive long-term growth opportunities."
David joins from KIRKBI, the private investment holding company behind the LEGO Group, where he served as Investment Director. He brings extensive experience in direct investing, transaction execution and value creation, having led a broad range of investments focusing on technology-enabled sectors across Europe. Prior to KIRKBI, he worked in investment banking at Alantra advising corporates and financial sponsors on M&A transactions.
Syz Group also thanks Christoph Raninger, who will continue as Group CFO, for his leadership of Syz Capital during this important transition.
Under David's leadership, Syz Capital will pursue its focused private equity strategy with the support of Syz Group and an experienced Board of Directors.
David Weintraub, incoming CEO of Syz Capital, said:
"Syz Capital is built on a strong foundation and guided by a clear strategic direction. By focusing exclusively on private equity, we are sharpening our expertise and creating a platform that is well positioned to deliver attractive opportunities for our clients and partners. I am excited to join the firm and help drive its next phase of growth."
Going forward, the Hedge Funds business will be integrated into Syz Bank, bringing investment expertise closer to clients and strengthening the Bank's alternative investment offering, where demand is accelerating.
The Legal Assets business will separate from the Group through a management buyout led by its founder, Olivier Maurice, and operate independently as Hykra Capital SA. Olivier and the Legal Assets team will move to the new company, ensuring continuity in the management of the existing investment strategies while maintaining close collaboration with Syz Group.
Together, these changes create a more focused Syz Capital, while reinforcing the Group’s longstanding commitment to alternative investments and private markets.
