Purpose of the role:

A challenging role at the heart of our Private Banking business, acting as a key partner to the Front Office, Compliance, Risk Management and Operations teams. The Business Risk Manager supports the Front Office in managing business and regulatory risks throughout the client lifecycle, from onboarding and periodic reviews AML/KYC Advisory to ongoing monitoring activities such as transactions high risk alerts and 1st Line of defence controls (investments controls linked to LsFin/FinSa, Churning for execution-only, shadow advisory activities, Cross-border, call-backs etc).

The role combines strong AML/KYC expertise with a solid understanding of Private Banking activities, regulatory requirements and First Line of Defence controls. The successful candidate will contribute to strengthening the Bank's control framework, ensuring high-quality risk assessments, supporting business initiatives and promoting a strong risk culture across the Front Office.

Given the nature of the client base covered by this role, fluency in French, English and Russian is a mandatory requirement. Previous exposure to AML/KYC matters involving Central and Eastern European (CEE/CIS) clients and structures is highly desirable.

Key responsibilities
  • Perform risk-based reviews and challenge Front Office submissions for account openings, periodic reviews and event-driven reviews.

  • Act as a trusted partner and advisor to Relationship Managers on AML/KYC matters, client documentation requirements, AML/KYC assessments, and regulatory obligations.

  • Review the quality, completeness and consistency of information and documentation submitted by the Front Office to Compliance and other 2nd or 3rd LoD/control functions.

  • Support the execution, monitoring and continuous enhancement of the First Line of Defence Control Framework across Private Banking activities.

  • Perform first-level controls relating to Client onboarding and KYC reviews, Cross-border activities, Suitability and appropriateness requirements (LsFin/ FinSa), Shadow Advisory controls and Approved list of products review, Churning and conduct risk controls, Call-back controls, Client documentation and data quality controls

  • Participate in Client Due diligence Committees and other governance forums as required.

  • Identify control weaknesses, regulatory risks and process inefficiencies, and proactively propose remediation measures to the Head of Business Risk Management

  • Contribute to remediation exercises, audit action plans, regulatory initiatives and business risk-related projects.

  • Support the implementation of new regulatory requirements, internal directives and business initiatives impacting the Front Office (change management).

  • Promote a strong risk culture within the Front Office through guidance, training and day-to-day support.

  • Participate in ad hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives related to Business Risk Management and Private Banking activities

Your profile

Education:

  • University degree or equivalent (preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Law or Compliance)

  • CAS in Compliance, AML, Risk Management or equivalent qualification is a strong advantage

 

Professional Experience required:

  • to 10 years of professional experience within Compliance, Private Banking - Client Lifecycle Management (CLM), KYC/AML or Business Risk Management functions with strong AML/KYC exposure.
  • Strong knowledge of AML/KYC regulations, sanctions requirements and Private Banking processes and controls, including account openings, client documentation, investment processes, transaction monitoring and periodic reviews.
  • Proven experience dealing with clients, structures and risk considerations related to Central and Eastern Europe (CEE/CIS) markets would be a strong advantage.
  • Profound understanding of the Wealth Management/ Private Banking industry, including External Asset Managers (EAMs).
  • Strong understanding of First Line of Defence control frameworks and associated regulatory requirements
