About the role

We are looking for a motivated intern to join the CIO Office at Syz Bank. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of quantitative finance, portfolio management, and macroeconomic research. You will contribute to the development and enhancement of tools and processes that support investment decision-making and assist in integrating macroeconomic perspectives into portfolio construction and reporting.

Ihre Aufgaben

The intern will work under the supervision of senior colleagues within the CIO Office at Syz Bank. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Model Analysis & Development
    • Analyze and refine existing market timing models (based on prices, technical and sentiment indicators, as well as fundamentals) across US and European equities, FX rates, and volatility indices
    • Evaluate and improve model robustness, with the objective of broadening their practical use in internal product management.
    • Propose enhancements based on empirical evidence and academic research.
  • Dashboard Development
    • Help build signal dashboards to support the Investment Committee in monitoring market evolution

  • Reporting Infrastructure
    • Improve the infrastructure for reporting and for the formulation of investment proposals, ensuring scalability, reliability, and consistency of outputs.
    • Integrate data from internal systems to streamline the production of recurring reports and ad-hoc analyses.
    • Help to automate recurring reporting tasks and improve documentation of existing models.

  • Economic Data Trackers
    • Help to build a data tracking system that aggregates major economic data releases for the major economic regions (USA, Eurozone, China) and on a global scale (Developed versus Emerging Markets).

  • Chart Library
    • Help build up a chart library that supports the economic data analysis and the communication of economic and investment research. 

  • Long-Term Macro Trends Research
    • Help to build up data sets that track long-term economic developments
    • Propose improvements and new approaches to identify long-term trends based on empirical research and economic research (academic, central banks, IMF, BIS, etc).
Ihr Profil
  • University student or recent graduate in Financial Engineering, Quantitative Finance, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Strong programming skills (solid knowledge of Python and VB/VBA - other languages a plus)
  • Solid understanding of financial instruments, portfolio theory, and macroeconomics
  • Professional proficiency in English, French or German is a plus
  • Team player with a curious and proactive mindset
