Information for the Hurricane season
Please note that our hurricane season began on 1 June 2011 and officially ends on 30 November 2011.
Whenever Nassau is under imminent threat of a hurricane and during the period immediately thereafter, you will be able to obtain current information about the status of our operations by accessing this web page (www.syzgroup.com/bahamas): Depending on the category of the hurricane, the following strategies will be implemented:
-
In case of a hurricane categories 1 to 3. Usually the Bank will close a few hours before the arrival of the hurricane and all staff will remain in the Bahamas. Experience has shown us that we may have a period of 48 hours when communications could be partially interrupted. In these relatively frequent and already experienced situations, the damage to the infrastructure of the Bahamas has been generally very limited.
-
In case of a hurricane categories 4 to 5. The bank will close and evacuate key employees. In these situations, communications might be temporally interrupted and the infrastructure of the Bahamas might suffer damage. Should the need arise, the bank will continue operating from another location.
In both cases, should regular communications be interrupted, SYZ & CO BANK & TRUST Limited will still be reachable by mobile phone (Mr. Miguel Gonzalez +1-242-427-9664) or by satellite phone (+1-863-200-5777).
